My name is Chase and I work as a librarian at my local public library. At the same time, I am enrolled in the Master of Library Science and Information program at Indiana University- Indianapolis. I have worked in libraries for a bit over 7 years and bring other professional experiences with me to that work (including college enrollment and a local health department…I even spent a summer plumbing with my uncle but most of that helpful information has been replaced with library skills, but I still remember “cold on right and don’t chew your fingernails).
I got my undergraduate degree in history (with original ambition being to become a high school social studies teacher) but ended up finding myself still surrounded by books and educating others. I read a decent amount and enjoy horror (Grady Hendrix, CJ Leede, and Chuck Tingle are some favorite authors), thriller, general fiction (A Short Stay in Hell by Steven Peck is amazing), and graphic novels (please read It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth by Zoe Thorogood) the most. I do still try to read at least one non-fiction for every fiction book I read.
In my spare time, you can find me unsuccessfully trying to have a lazy weekend with my wife (who is also a librarian at a different library system), cooking (Anthony Bourdain, Matty Matheson, Andrew Rhea, Molly Baz, Joshua Wiseman, and Mythical Chef Josh are my inspirations there with more to come), and doing an impression of an athletic strong dude in the gym.
Perhaps one day I will write the great American novel…or novella…or short story…or tweet.
